Sandoz

Sandoz is a Swiss pharmaceutical company with roots dating back to 1886, when Alfred Kern and Edouard Sandoz founded the company Kern & Sandoz in Basel, initially active in the production of synthetic dyes. Over the decades, the chemical vocation gradually gave way to the pharmaceutical one: from the 1950s onwards, the pharmaceutical sector became the beating heart of the group. In 1996, the merger with Ciba led to the creation of Novartis; in 2003, Novartis brought together all its activities in the generic drug sector under the name Sandoz, transforming the brand into a global reference in this segment. In October 2023, Sandoz became an independent company again, going public and consolidating its identity as a world leader in generic and biosimilar drugs.
