How to choose eyeshadows and palettes

Every eye look starts with matte neutrals, which sculpt and blend. A palette with good mattes in beige, brown and taupe will work for years. Finishes do the rest: mattes give structure, satins natural light, and shimmers and metallics an evening highlight. When choosing colours, follow the contrast rule: warm and copper tones bring out blue and green eyes, while plum and taupe bring out brown eyes, which can wear anything anyway.

Quality criterion: blendability. An eyeshadow that melts in without streaks is worth more than ten spectacular shades in the packaging.
