Gritti — officially Gritti Venetia, based in Venice — is a niche artistic perfumery house founded in 2009 by Luca Gritti, a direct descendant of a Venetian noble family whose connection to fragrant essences dates back to the 16th century: their ancestor Alvise Gritti, a merchant and diplomat, son of the Doge of Venice, traveled the routes between Venice and Constantinople collecting rare olfactory ingredients and recipes. Luca Gritti has revived that heritage by building a fully self-produced perfumery house, where each fragrance is born under his direct creative control, from conception to formulation to the colored glass bottle with its baroque and sculptural design. The family motto — Sustinet nec fatiscit, "do not yield in the face of difficulties" — encapsulates a philosophy that prioritizes authentic intensity over convention.
