BECCA Cosmetics was founded in 2001 in Perth, Australia, by makeup artist Rebecca Morrice Williams, who after years of research on foundation formulation decided to create a brand capable of meeting the needs of every skin tone, from the lightest to the deepest. Since its debut — first in London at Space NK, then in New York at Bergdorf Goodman — the brand has stood out for its commitment to inclusivity, which was far from guaranteed in the high-end makeup world at that time. BECCA's core philosophy revolves around light as an identity element: every formula is designed to interact with natural light and provide the skin with a glow that appears authentic, not artificial. The brand is cruelty-free certified by PETA. In 2016, BECCA became part of the Estée Lauder Companies group; after the brand was closed as an independent label in 2021, the iconic products found continuity through Smashbox, which is also part of the same group.
