Indult is an independent niche perfume house based in Paris, founded in 2006. The name refers to a medieval term that indicated an exclusive privilege granted by a sovereign or papal authority: a deliberate choice that encapsulates the entire philosophy of the house. The four inaugural fragrances were conceived by Francis Kurkdjian — before the master established his own house in 2010 — with initial productions limited to 999 bottles per reference, packaged in rosewood boxes. After a period of silence, the brand was acquired and relaunched by Kim Charles, a niche perfume enthusiast, who in 2013 restored the original formulas, making them accessible again through a selected network of specialized retailers. Today, Indult continues to work with rare raw materials from carefully selected sources, maintaining its artisanal vocation and deliberately limited distribution.
