Ciatu – Soul of Sicily is an Italian cosmetics and perfumery brand founded by Andrea Spatola, with the first documented references dating back to 2014. The name itself tells the identity of the brand: ciatu in Sicilian dialect means "breath," and it is indeed about breath — that of an island that has absorbed for millennia Phoenician, Greek, Arab, and Norman cultures, leaving traces in the landscapes, aromas, and craftsmanship. Each product is handcrafted by Sicilian artisans, using organic raw materials sourced locally: olive oil, wildflower honey, citrus fruits, almonds, and orange blossom. No ingredient is tested on animals, and the entire production chain adheres to environmental criteria declared by the brand. The packaging is also an integral part of the project: the illustrations that decorate the boxes are exclusively commissioned from Sicilian artists and depict archaeological finds and works of the island's cultural heritage — a detail that earned the brand an honorable mention at the International Design Awards 2014.
